I’m a multi-discipline craftsman working in painting and blacksmithing. I’m drawn to projects that move from idea to physical object, and I value the focus and clarity that come from working with my hands. Whether I’m at the easel or the forge, the work is about attention, problem-solving, and making something honest.
My background is in painting and education, with formal training in traditional oil painting. In recent years, I’ve been exploring watercolor, drawn to its vibrancy and the balance it requires between control and letting the material do what it wants. That tension is a large part of what keeps the medium interesting to me.
Blacksmithing began as a hobby and grew into a long-term practice. For over a decade, I’ve studied and refined the fundamentals of the craft through hands-on work, research, and learning from other smiths. My interest in historical processes led me to build my own bloom furnace, allowing me to take raw materials and turn them into usable metal. That experience deepened my respect for the craft’s history and informs how I approach my work today.
My work ranges from paintings inspired by popular culture and landscapes to forged household items designed for everyday use. I also create historically informed recreations, as well as blades and specialized tools, combining function with careful craftsmanship.
Through this work, I aim to share the value of making things well, connect with others who appreciate craft, and keep traditional skills relevant in a modern world.
